Transmission Issues...need insight plz
First off I'm new here and new to Hondas as I've been into the f-body scene since 1999 and know TONS about those car but nothing about Hondas . My fiance' owns a 95 Z28 and I have a 2000 Trans Am.
We recently bought a used 95 Civic EX AT with 167k miles on it for me as a daily driver but it seems to have a transmission problem. The car won't shift from 1 to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd unless you allow the RPM's to get up to about 4K and force it to shift by letting off the gas. It downshifts on its own when slowing down but hard. One mechanic friend told us it could be that the throttle cable could be getting hung up on something or the valve in the valve body.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance
-Michelle

Re: Transmission Issues...need insight plz (95DxSi-R2)
I downloaded the manual yesterday here at work and printed it and did see the section on checking the cable and marked it. We won't be able to check till Saturday so I thought I would just post to see if anyone had any input.

Re: Transmission Issues...need insight plz (Pewter2kTransAm)
Check your motor mounts first.
Otherwise tear the tranny apart and:
Check your input shaft bearing to see if it's unseated
Check for a bent shift fork and/or bad sleeve.
