transmission issues...

transmission issues...
i bought a 98 civic cx hatchback about 4 months back no problems till now i noticed when changeing my oil i was leaking fluid from input trans axle seal so i tried finding an id or stamp on transmission could not find one so called honda and ran my vin number and it came back as an automatic ..... so my car has been modified it has a b20 2.0 and no idea wat type of transmission can any one lead me into the rite direction?

If you car has a b20 in it, the only hydraulic transmissions sold in the united states that would fit on it without modification are from the 1994-2001 acura integra gs, ls, gsr, and type-r, and the 1999-2000 honda civic si.
The easiest way to identify the transmission is to jack up your car, put it in gear, put a 19mm socket on your crank pulley, turn the ratchet and measure the ratio between the number of turns input to the number of turns your tire spins. Compare that ratio to the known ratios for the different gears of b-series transmissions and you will know what tranny you have.

Though if you are replacing the axle seal, I think that particular part is identical between all the b-series transmissions. So if you want to buy the part from a honda dealership, just tell them you need the part from a 1999 civic si.
