Hi all, I just finished my SOHC ZC swap in my 92 hatch but am having some troubles. I threw in an ACT clutch, first one i've ever done and mated the engine with a 92-95 EX/Si trans. After starting the car up I went to shift into gear, I go to take off and get nothing but revs. I try every gear, nothing. I figure maybe bleed the clutch, but no, same thing. Now I know the clutch was in right because I had my cousin, who is a certified mechanic, help me out, like I said I have never done one before and wanted to do it right.
So after much testing I have chalked it down. When I puch the clutch in I have about 3-4 inches of play before I get any feedback, by the time its to the floor it has barly moved. It seems as if the clucth is already halfway engaged as I can just put it in each gear 1-5 without pushing the pedal. When I try reverse without the clucth pedal it grinds, and with the pedal it goes in. Which sounds like its proving that the clutch and transmission are good.

I asked my cousin and he said that it could be the slave cylinder is just put on wrong. I'm not to sure what he means by that since its only 2 bolts, maybe it could be the hydro line? The clutch is bled and no air is coming out, I've bled it 3 times and filled it 3 times just to make sure I had the best tolerance at the pedal. So if anyone can provide some assistance I would surely appreciate it, I won't be able to work on it until this weekend when I get home from work but I'd like as much info as I can get before then.

Does it feel like it is going into gear and just not moving? You sure the axles are in properly to move it with fluid in the trans.
Is it a new trans, or did you reuse the trans from your SOHC?

It definitly feels like its in gear, and I double checked the axles. Its a trans I bought with the engine as a package.

Make sure the axles are not turning when it is in gear if it is not moving. I would blame a poor bleed/slave cylinder, 4 inches before a response is quite a bit of travel, after an inch the release bearing should be loading on the pressure plate fingers.

Make sure it is bled all the way, push the clutch in to its firmest position and have someone crack the bleeder and see if air comes shooting out, repeat this until no air bubbles are observed.

I made sure there was no air, even to the point where I ended up bleeding it dry once, but I can def. try it again. Any other suggestions?
