transmission grinding
My transmission is grinding. I jacked up the car and spinned the wheels and the grinding is coming from where the axels meet the tranny. Does this mean a rebuild is in order? Shifting gears is normal but when I coast in neutral I can hear it grind. Anyone know if it's the axels or tranny. No clicking sounds and the rubber is still good on the axels thanks.

Re: transmission grinding (postman)
i have a 99 si and i just went through the same problem. I took it to a tranny shop and they said my transmission was just **** inside because i race. When i rotated the tire it was a knocking in differential side and you could feel something in tranny when rotating the tire... so i hope for your sake that its not that... good luck man...

Re: transmission grinding (KRTRACING)
So did you end up rebuilding the tranny and differential. If so about how much is that? And what bearings should I check. I know it's not the wheel bearings since the sound is isolated to where the axel and tranny meet. Sounds like I have to rebuild everything.
