Default transmission diagnosis

alright guys could use a little help. i think i know what i gotta do i just wanna make sure it's right. I have an original d16z6 5spd transmission in my 95 del sol, I've swapped in a d16a. But for the past year or so (ive kinda been ignoring it) my transmission has been making this almost grinding sound like there is a bunch of sand rolling around in it. At closer inspection it almost sounds liek there is fluid hitting the hot walls of my transmission and hissing at a rapid rate. Furthermore my transmission will not stay in 3rd gear if i let of the gas it simply slips into neutral and the same in 5th. I've never done a lot of downshifting the clutch is semi-new and i changed my tranny fluid with no improvement... Next step is to replace my tranny which shouldn't be too expensive, i can probably pick one up on ebay for like $300. Sorry about the long post, I could just use some input from someone other than own experience.

Input shaft bearing. Known problem with the D-series. If you replace it early on, you'll be fine.

If you let it go, the bearing falls apart and sends tons of metal shards into the tranny to wreak havoc on everything else. At this point, it makes more sense to just replace the tranny.

try spraying some oil into the hole where the clutch slave cylinder goes on the tranny. there is a bearing in there. if you spray oil and few days later you see an oil leak its nothing, its from the oil you sprayed

hmmm yeah it's been making this noise for a LONG time, i just ignored it since i had a street bike, but now i gotta drive my car so i gotta fix it. If im gonna take my tranny apart and spray some stuff in it, i might as well replace the b*tch for. Anyone with me? Or more advice is appreciated.
