transmission
1999 honda civic si us.
i recently bought this civic with 300000km on it. i need a cv axle, went thru 4 different store it never fits. i figure someone before me must have change something. so the sticker on the tranny says: K4FP4AB000 and the motor: XP2R-C2 D16Y8-4793554.
while searching on this forum I found that the tranny is:
96-00
P4A-A000 = small bearing case = DX/HX/LX etc.
P4A-B000 = large bearing case = EX
i pulled a 25 theet spline section and when i try to get a replacement, the splines are too big for my opening.
any idea why?
thanks a lot

Re: transmission
The US Si came with a B series (DOHC) engine and corresponding B series transmission. Someone has downgraded yours to an EX powertrain. EX axles shouldl fit though I don't know about the wheel end.

Re: transmission
If you have a SOHC "D" series engine in the car, you need to stop telling the person at the auto parts store that you have a 1999 Civic Si... this information tells them that you have a "B" series DOHC engine/trans combination. The inner spline on the DOHC package is larger in diameter than the SOHC spline, and thus, doesn't fit. So, tell the parts person you have a 1999 Civic EX and you will get the correct part.
