Transaxle removal Help
Have removed all necessary bolts, apparati,and wiring. Jack under transaxle but for life of me, I am unable to separate transaxle. Car is my grandson's and his only form of transportation.
Need help / pics would be nice, if I am suppose to do something manuals have not indicated.
P.S. have noticed other posts but none seem to have clear explanation; unit does not simply pull apart --some sort of assistance (i.e. mallet, pry bar, bolt insertion must be needed??)

There's one bolt on the back that goes through the from the back (ie engine into transmission bell housing) that people frequently miss, also one the starter mounting bolts has to come out (the long one) If you have those out chances are it's just stuck on the dowel pins. Pry between the block and the bell housing.

I have both the Chilton & Haynes manuals; have removed all bolts that have been indicated and then some (1 manual says top starter bolt / other bottom bolt /took starter completely off. I banged on housing with rubber mallet, still having difficulty Friend suggested I try prying with a chisel. What is your opinion on that tactic and where would the best place to do that if I were to?

You almost always have to pry between the bell housing and the block with a large flat screwdriver, generally I pry along the front. Sometimes you'll have to hammer the screwdriver in to start it. once it starts to separate you can grab the transmission and shake it a bit and it should separate completely from the dowel pins.

I found the method of grasping the front and rear of the transmission and then shaking/twisting it from side to side dislodged it from the engine.

19. Lean over the driver side front quarter panel and (with a jack positioned with some wood on it, under the tranny) shake the tranny from side to side to get apart from the engine. We found the best way was to use a hammer and hit against the opening for the release fork a few times, then do the same on the opposite end, hiting the tranny against the diff casing. Once it is loose, make sure you support it properly as you slide the tranny out. Putting excessive weight on the input shaft splines could damage not only the splines and the input shaft, but also your clutch!

Just unbolt the rear engine mount bolt, and the passenger side mount bolt, drop that side of the motor and allow gravity to help. It should take a bit of encouragement for it to drop, but not a ton.
