Im starting to hate my car! but anyway my trans, it makes a LOUD clicking/tapping noise when im driving. But when i press the clutch in or when the car is in neutral and im letting it coast the noise goes away. when i let go of the clutch or put it into gear the noise comes back and its loud! also it only happens when im driving not when its parked. anyhelp would be great! thanks.

Re: trans problem AGAIN!. (JDM-ish)
when you say that your letting it coast in neutral, are you pressing the clutch in, or letting it coast with your foot off of the clutch?
I can see where WonderB says it could be the throw out bearing, but if that were the case I would say that it's the actual preassure plate that's beating against the throw out bearing. Maybe the slave sylinder isn't sucking back far enough to releave pressure on the bearing but if heas letting it coast in neutral with his foot off of the clutch then it's probably somthing in the tranny.

No it doesn't.
Throw out bearings make noise when the clutch pedal is IN, or the clutch is disengaged.
A lot of people have been telling you it's the throwout because a lot of people don't know what they're talking about, but they've heard that should be replaced when you do the clutch. They've heard of it, so that's what they speak to.

Sorry bro, but it sounds like it's in your tranny. If you let it coast and your foot is off of the clutch and the noise goes away then it's not your clutch since technically your clutch is engages and spinning w/ the flywheel and the throw out bearing is also in the same position whether its in gear or not. The only difference there is that your tranny is not engaged. Hope this helps.

Well, let's put it this way...you'll have to pull the trans to fix the problem regardless. TOB or ISB or PP or clutch...who knows until you pull it. GL!
