I know it's another brand and another situation but here we go:

Mothers 98 Chevy Lumina with a 96 monte carlo engine in it: tranny has whinned since day one. Never had a problem with it and it shifts fine, changed the tranny filter and fluid one time and still fine

My old 93 Honda Accord: Tranny whinned, lost gears SITTING in place. Got in it one day, reverse gone (this was a Thursday) by Sunday everything but 1st and 2nd (automatic) were gone.

I'd say check the fluid.

It is a problem if they replace the barings and you have wining noise and it doesn't stay in 2nd gear now. The not staying in 2nd gear has nothing to do with the clutch and has everything to do with your trans.

oh well see
i must of taken my car to a **** place :[
they told me they didnt adjust it right <-- clutch.

see like it'll stay in 2nd when i granny into it or i dump it at like 6 rpm.
and when i shift at high rpm's into 3rd it will grind.
but no other gears..
maybe my 2nd and 3rd gears are worn out?
