Tranny whine and semi grinding gears
my 94 hatch has been making noise for a while now , the tranny makes a whining sound all the time , gets on my nerves, its not real loud but enough to annoy u , if im sitting in my parking lot before i leave a push the clutch in it quits whining, is this some shaft bearing or throwout bearing ? The clutch seems fine and grabs ok , i have about 1" of play in my pedal and when driving the gears dont always like to go in , especially first if im still moving coming to a stop. i have suspension techniques bushings in the shifter and skunk 2 **** and shift rod , gears feel kinda iffy going in unless i really push it hard and then they go in nice except for the grinding on occation.

Re: Tranny whine and semi grinding gears (crxsiperf)
sounds like the input shaft bearing search under "BauleyCivic"...hes has a good write up on replacing the input shaft bearing

i would guess input shaft bearing like ek9800 says. but as for the other problem, there is nothing unusual about difficulty engaging first gear while moving. there is a lot of stress on the syncro when you do something like that and it is best to just refrain from doing it unless you are almost stopped or you are double clutching to match up the speed of the moving parts.

First things first , check your fluid ,if you dont have enough or if you have just oil in there it will usually make more ni=oise than usual. The chirp chirp chirp before you push the clutch in is the throwout bearing , you can eliminate this by taking out some of theplay in the clutch pedal , there should be about a half an inch before it starts to engage. The whiring sound is most likely the top bearing on the mainshaft and or syncro sleeve/syncro
