Default Tranny troubles on a 98 civic ex

When the car is revved up in first, if it isn't stomped on but instead slowly brought up, I can hear what almost sounds like another engine revving up after about 2500-3000 rpms (not a grinding sound but a slightly higher pitch than the engine). If I keep revving it up until say 5500-6000 rpms and then shift into second, even if the clutch is to the floor the second gear will grind loudly before getting seated. The noise doesn't happen when I push it hard in first from the beginning, and no other gears grind when driving slowly. What could possibly be causing this?

Plus when the sound comes on the car doesn't pull hard at all when I push the pedal harder (not anywhere near compared to what it pulls when I don't hear the noise) and it sounds and feels like something would break if I push it harder. And if it is any help, the car has been chattering really badly when I drop it into first from a stop after about twenty minutes of bumper to bumper driving (the whole front shakes when I release the clutch slowly into first from a stop).

Any and all help would be appreciated!

your questions is VERY hard to understand. By the sound content of the question it sounds like you are saying that there is a noise comming from the transmission?

I would change the fluid first. The last two hondas that I have owned have always grinded gears. My 99 ex would grind in 2nd when ever the rpm range was high and my 02 si grinds going into 3rd in high rpms.

I could ask the question better if I knew more about cars...

I'm pretty sure the noise comes from the transmission and only happens when I am in first gear and speeding up as fast as normal driving (not when flooring). Then when the noise happens if I shift into second it will almost always grind even with the clutch to the ground.

I don't know if that's any easier to understand but it's the best I can do.

And about the chattering, the car basically vibrates really hard when shifting into first, but only after driving some hard stop and go driving for like twenty minutes. I don't know what this is either.

I will change the fluids, thanks for the help Kevin, hopefully I made it a little easier to understand.
