tranny shift problems 2002 civic
I have a 2002 honda civic si coupe. It has a manual transmission and currentley will not shift into reverse. It is very stiff when moving the shifter from side to side. I have removed the shifter linkage from the transmission and tried to put the transmission into reverse manualy. It still will not go. Now I know the problem is in the tranny. I was wondering if any one could tell me what to look for. Also I was wondering if I can remove the shifter mechanism of the tranny with no big problems occuring????

Is your clutch engaging? Is the fork engaging? I don't know much about the 2001+ transmissions, but maybe you can pull the rubber boot from the slave cylinder and check if it's engaging. How's your transmission fluid level? When's the last time it was changed?
