I find it easier to just drop the transmission, jack the car up and lower it down at an angle. If its a 5 speed you can just pick it up, its its an automatic you will need to lower it with something because they're heavy.

It kind of depends. D series motors are so easy to remove/install it's almost funny. If I'm only doing a clutch job, I'll leave the engine in. If I'm doing ANYTHING else along with the clutch job I'll take out the motor.
