Re: Tranny Questions (EGB18hatch)
I thought his question was fine. He might have been asking to determine which tranny would be better for whatever application, i.e. turbo, N.A...

some people have different definitions of LONG gearing. I'm just trying to get clear info so I can help in the best way possible.

Re: Tranny Questions (Mista Bone)
Well, I want the longer gears because from what I hear they are better for turbo applications. I have a Greddy Turbo Kit on my Si at this time. I pretty much messed up my tranny and my friend will give me his 98 DX tranny for free. I know it will bolt on but I want to know if it will slow me down alot. Will it slow me down quite a bit or will it be better?

Yes the DX tranny will slow you down. The SOHC Si/EX tranny has the best gearing. It is almost identical to the DOHC LS gearing.

JDM SOHC VTEC motors AND ZC DOHC motors in 92-95 Civic Chassis got 4.25 FD and same 1-4 ratios. only fifth changed depending on body style.
I almost bought a S20 ZC tranny from Gil @ Place Racing. He didn't know the ratios (no one did!) and I found all the info. Glad I didn't buy that damn tranny!
