well im buying a 97 ex manual tranny for cheap to replace my beat up 92 Si tranny.my question is how can you tell what year the tranny is?i know on longblocks it says the year,is it da same for trannies?the guy claims its a 97 ex tranny and i see a 95 on it.i dont want to get ripped off.if anyone has any pics on where the year would be located i would appreciate it.also will a 96,97,98,99 etc tranny bolt rite up to my stock engine?and how can u tell the difference between an automatic tranny and manual???thanks!

yes the d16y8 will work on the d16z6....

manual tranny has a slave cylinder on it....auot i"m not sure........sorry thats all I know...

manual tranny will have a clutch fork- most obvious...sticking out the front

I forgot the code for 96+ trannies.....let me look around

Edit- here's a B18C5 tranny...I'm pointing at the clutch fork...

Where exactly is that 95 your talking about?? Is it engraved or what? Right where Emerika was talking about the clutch fork... Directly to the left of the block code there should be a transmission code as well. This code should be S40 for all manual transmissions produced in 97. You can tell this way for sure. I don't know what to tell you about that 95 bro. Good luck.
