Their both the same, ive done SOHC trannys prob 20 times by now. Yes, y8 and Z6 are both interchangable, although, more ppl experience problems with the Y8 tranny in terms of gear grindings, Input shaft leaks, and popping out of gears, sometimes losing a gear altogather. id persoanlly always recomend the Z6, rarley have i ever experienced any problems with them
