Tranny problems
First I want to say hi and I have been watching this site for a long time and I now have a question that can’t be answered.
A couple weeks ago I swapped in a b16a (second generation) and well here is the story. I accidentally put automatic transmission fluid in the transmission and after realizing this (without driving the car) I flushed the system and my reverse gear doesn’t work. I think this is because it’s the farthest gear in the transmission. What could have happened? This is just odd I mean it just will not go into gear, I try and slam it into reverse and it just won’t go, like there is a physical block there. Then if I try to take it out of where reverse should be its difficult to get it back to neutral, once its back into neutral its fine though. It goes into every other gear perfect, no problems with anything else. Just this. Is my transmission hosed? (I have also checked the shift linkage and it’s clear, not hitting anything)

try flushing it again..ATF is slipperier that MTF..the friction modifyers are not turning the reverse gears into place..there s still some ATF in there..get it all out

the auto tranny fluid won't hurt anything. Alot of todays manual trannys use DexronIII or MerconV.
I would drain it out and refill with 10w30. Drive about 100-150 miles. Then drain/refill with Honda MTF.

Re: Tranny problems (hondanoob)
update: i finally got around to flushing it (once so far) and i think there is a little progress, heres what i did
drained the fluid, ran 1 qt of 10w 30 through, filled with 2 quarts of 10w 30 then prayed.
now when i try to put it in reverse there is this grinding (more like soft ticking) i think its the gears touching but its still not engaging.
im gonna run it for a week (200 miles) then switch to honda MTF
it should come back?
does anyone else have any suggestions? i really need it back!
