Any reason to not go with OEM?

People probably won't like this but I use Amsoil 5w-40. My transmission quieted down and has been smooth as butter since..

I use the pennzoil syncromesh same thing as gm but it's a lot cheaper. This stuff shifts a lot better than honda's mtf

holy crap with this topic, royal purple sucks big nuts sacks, i tested it under the scope, its like buying old navy jeans and gap jeans they come from the same factory, ne ways, if you like to spend money on a name, you might as well go with oem, because the new formula is just the ****, it out weights everything you can think of, and i say this with confidence because i checked it out, in my chemistry lap at my university, and if you think the Columbia teacher doesn't no ****, then you should rethink that for just one minute and think about it again, and repeat that thought until you have a awakening and realize that you are just stupid, sorry for being so rude, but i am just telling you what i know. Never the less it is America and you are free to do whatever you want, but please just think about it first.

you really didn't tell us anything. What did you analyze under the scope?? I'm not even really sure what your saying.

Anyone put GM synchromesh in a 06+ honda si? My dad's si shifts like ***, which i hear many do. I told him to put in synchromesh. He doesn't drive it in the winter so hasn't switched yet, but i've had nothing but the best of luck in my older honda trannies. Even ran it through 5 track days, with water and oil temps over 240 degrees, not sure what the tranny was seeing but it still looked brand new when it came out.

Never used the OEM stuff, but don't use 10w40 motor oil, the honda techs told me to do that, it looked and smelled horrible after minimal use.

Are you seriously a college student? I actually have a chemistry degree and currently work somewhere where I test viscosities of different materials often. What were the differences between the OEM and Royal Purple samples? Do tell.. I'm anxious to hear.
