Tranny Issues....Calling all Tranny People!!
Well I just got done doing my b16 build. I put all new syncros in the tranny and fully built the motor. I got the motor all installed and ready to go so with my good friend and tuner Mr. John Kerr aka J-K-Tuning.com by for the start up we did that dang thing. The motor started right up but what I noticed was the wheels were spinning and the speedo read somewhere between 5-10mph at idle when the gear shift itself was in neutral...this is what it was still up on jack stands. I thought this was odd but didn't really think much of it until I put it down on the ground for its maden voyage. With the shifter in nuetral I pulled the ebrake to get out of the car to check for leaks before driving it down the road but when I went to take my foot off the clutch pedal it wanted to drive away like it was stuck in a gear but it would then stall. I just got done pulling the tranny back out of the car and tore it apart to have it looked at.
My question is, what could be the possible problems that the tranny itself is still in a gear but the gear shifter itself is in neutral? Never heard of this in my time playing with Honda's.

chock the wheels and see if it stops or stalls. there is alot of resistence within the trans that can cause the wheels to spin. just chock them and see if it stalls, drives off of the chocks or just stops spinning. if you assembled correctly, this is not uncommon.

im not too sure that's out of the ordinary, When i took my car to my uncle's shop, we were making our own exhaust system. We had it on his lift.
when we decided to start the car and hear what it would sound like with only 2 feet of pipe and a resonator. To our suprise the wheels started turning while it was in neutral. My uncle said it's normal because there's no resistance on the wheels. It's not like teh wheels turn with much force though They just roll slowly a bit. you sould be fine.
Needless to say the 2 feet of pipe and resonator sounded freakin sweet.

That sounds exactly like what is happening to my tranny. Its like its still in a gear when the shifter is in neutral. What did you do to fix it?

you need to take your internal linkage back out and realigne it right. that is all i could think of. and check to make sure all the clutch parts are working and LOOK like they are in decent condition.
