Tranny decision for allmotor b20 (possible vtec head conversion later)
have a B20. I plan to go vtec head later(thats if $flow is right), do yo think that the B16 tranny would be a good mod. Right now I have an GSR under constuction and I'm currently using an LS. From me swapping out the GSR tranny and putting in the LS tranny I lost alot of acceleration. I mean it really dissapointed me and made my car feel like a pig . That is telling me that your tranny is one of the biggest mods you can have, more than Intake, Exh. headers and all that **** combined which is making me think about getting an even tighter ratio than the GSR and get a B16 tranny. What do you think about this decision?, cause I'm staying allmotor. I know my MPGs on the highway will go down but do you think cruising at 70-75mph will be a serious strain on the engine

Re: Tranny decision for allmotor b20 (Luserkid)
Can you give more details on your opinion Luserkid, and B2FiNiTY I put B16 cause It has the same ratio as the type R minus the LSD and I could forget about affording a type R tranny.

Na I don't really need LSD. If anything that **** is kinda fun when you shift to 2nd and you have so much torque it pulls to the side. But tell you the truth, I have driven so many Hondas without LSD that with some drivers it'll pull them to the side but with me I can keep it straight.

well think about gas prices right now
if u get the b-16 tranny u'll be on the high way at liek 5500 at like 65 the gs-r has a little better gear ratios if ur not worried abouit gas prices run the b-16 but don;'t run the ls tranny ever or buy a b-16 tranny and put the ls 5th gear in it
if u get the b-16 tranny u'll be on the high way at liek 5500 at like 65 the gs-r has a little better gear ratios if ur not worried abouit gas prices run the b-16 but don;'t run the ls tranny ever or buy a b-16 tranny and put the ls 5th gear in it

99 usdm si tranny in 5th gear at 70 mph is a hair under 4,200 rpms.

I don't think it's too great of a strain on the engine unless you travel great distances on the highway every day. I have the ls on my si tranny now and love the set up. Lots of torque.
