Trading my Audi S4 for a Civic, need advice
Thread might be long, but any help//advice is appreciated
So i've been open to the idea of selling my 1994 audi s4, and a ex-co worker of mine offered me a trade on his civic. Here are the specs:
My Audi URS4 1994 2.2 5cyl turbo fully loaded with working car phone, heated leather seats etc etc
-
Mileage unknown (when I bought it, owner said cluster didn't work for a while so he really could not tell me how many kms)
Says 187,000 KMS as of now
-Chipped for 28 psi
-Turbo smart supersonic BOV
-Vibrant Intercooler with custom made piping
-6000k HID kit
-Samco boost hoses
- Advan rims with 245/40/18 tires
-Drop was done ghetto by heating the bottom coils to let it sink
- 75 Wet shot of NOS
-Custom 3 inch exhaust straight pipe with Magnaflow Muffler
the thing is the car needs a few big repairs such as
Clutch to do (just the clutch kit is 700$+ 9 hrs labour), transmission has a whining in first gear, and it puffs oil at start up and when idles for a long time (potential buyer is rdy to tackle the problems)
and when **** breaks on this car, it is very expensive not to mention the amount of gas
here's pic
(only rear pic i could find fast)
So the offer on the table is a 1998 Civic Coupe + 1,500$ cash
-Si front end
-b16 motor, rebuilt, currently at 80,000kms. Body has 300,000 but there is only a single rust spot
-type r cams
-type r transmission (he said he thinks)
-headers, exhaust
-p28 ecu, chrome chip (???)
-short shift
-coilovers
-tom motorsport racing seats
-17inch rims
-6000k hids
all i can think of for now....
So what do you guys think? Considering the amount of money i will save in the long run and to still have a peppy car. It will absolutely suck to lose the luxury, comfort and ballerness factor of this very rare audi, but I know once it breaks I will be crying
And what is the tuning potential of the b16? Is it possible to make a daily driven 250+ whp for reasonable money?

"Reasonable money" is subjective. The tuning potential of the B16 depends on how much money you want to dump into it. The Civic as it is, is probably worth 3500 - 4000 in good running condition. I'd need pics of the Civic to make a better assessment.
So bottom line:
You're trading your ***** out 28psi + Nitrous Audi that has bad valve stem seals (or worse... valves or rings) and needs a new transmission for $5000. Is that a good deal to you?
The B16 responds well to forced induction, and with the right internals, tune, and turbo it will be on par with your Audi.
The Civic will be a definite step down in comfort

As EJ8 Man said, you can kiss your Luxury and Comfort goodbye.
Civic's are just not premium cars, doesn't matter how much money and effort you put into it.
About the deal, the issues you have with the S4 are pretty serious and as you mentioned, quite expensive to repair.
So IMHO it's a good trade, ofc we don't know what the state of the Civic is but parts and repairs @ a Civic are generally a lot cheaper.

As for power. I was running the audi around 18psi no nos (hooked up but never used), i assume its making close to 300hp. but factor in the 4000lbs it weighs and awd and its not THAT fast. looks more intimidating than anything
as for "reasonable money" if i can make 250whp on 3000$, sounds reasonable.

You have your answer then Buy the civic. It looks pretty clean BTW. As is, your Audi is faster most likely. Even at 4000 lbs

Re: Trading my Audi S4 for a Civic, need advice
i think he was asking IF 3k will get 250HP.... i think turbo kits run ~2k new... which leave a grand for injectors, fuel pump (a few other parts im forgetting) and tuning (VERY important).... i think 3k will do that, but let one of the b-series guys tell ya for sure

Well 250 HP is about the max you'll get out of a B16 on stock internals in good condition. Emphasis on good condition. $3000 is feasible if you can get deals on parts. Force induction will take your minor problems and turn them into major ones very rapidly. Assuming you want Hondata or Chrome + some dyno time and a professional tune that can add up to $1000 very quickly. So really you'll be left with around $2000 for the turbo setup
