track times from yesterday, finally in the 14s!!
Went to Import Wars put on at New England Dragway yesterday. Got a bunch of runs in at the end so that was fun. Here are some of my times:
Run 1
R/T .872
60' 2.434
330 6.492
1/8 9.765
mph 75.64
1000 12.558
1/4 14.925
mph 95.03
Run 2
R/T .884
60' 2.543
330 6.536
1/8 9.816
mph 75.31
1000 12.618
1/4 14.980
mph 95.2
Run 3
R/T .766
60' 2.355
330 6.549
1/8 9.897
mph 73.69
1000 12.744
1/4 15.141
mph 94.46
Run 4
R/T .621
60' 2.427
330 6.452
1/8 9.720
mph 75.30
1000 12.514
1/4 14.878
mph 94.99
My friend Chris had Run 4. First time dragging my car and he beats my best of the day, damn him!! He's a very good driver though and I suck so to be that close I was surprised. Run 3 boggles me, I thought I would have had a new best of the day for me on that one because I could tell I was quicker in the 60' but I guess I just sucked on my 2-3 shift or somethin'. I dunno, but that run doesn't seem to add up.
My set-up
94 Civic DX Coupe ( has none of the following: AC, PS, PW, PL, moonroof)
B18c1 w/ I/H/E (stock cat, gotta get rid of that), that's all it's got.
skunk2 coilovers w/ tokico blues
16" rims (15.5lbs) with 205/45/16 yoko A520
weight w/o me: 2270
Not sure if the engine is stock, but it's REALLY strong. Chipped OBD2 ecu, redline at 8300 or 8400 rpm. I was shifting at about 8300 rpm.
The car has much more potential given the trap speeds and how hard it can pull. I know people are gonna say you should be getting this time or I've done so much better with this and you should be faster but the shocks suck, the suspension bushings are all shot and fast times at this particular track can be rare. I dunno why, but everyone's times seem to be off except for rare occasions.
I think with better shocks and poly bushings my times are gonna be more in line with what the car is capable of. Had a hard time getting low 60' times. In my previous all stock GSR getting a 2.3 60' wasn't that hard. Maybe the suspension bushings, dunno. Just thought I'd share!!

they're decent tires. they probably have <5000 miles on them. I like the A520's, I ran these same tires on my GSR when I was getting 2.3 60'. I think it's something else.
Also, I noticed that when I dropped the pressure to 20 psi or lower my 60' times seemed to get worse. 25 psi seemed to work best. What's everyone else run 16" tires at for pressure? 15's are a different story

You can definitly improve on your times. Your 60' times are not so good. I'm running 15.1's with a bone stock B18B in a 95 EX on street tires , at about the same elevation as New England Dragway.......
Practice and you'll be whoopin azz in no time.........

they may b decent but still not sticky. get some nitto 555Rs, now those get sticky. 1.975 60 fts in a 2500+ lb coupe with little mods tells alot.

You should be running a little bit better than that, but those are overall good times. Just practice more and you'll get mid 14's.

don't know where the program is from. as far as i know the obdII chips (like $100) are expensive and not many people do it. I'll have to find out more. the engine is a 99 and the car was converted over to obdII but all the plugs were left so i could go back to obdI pretty easy. don't know why it was chosen to be done this way. i bought it with the swap already done.

i don't want to go the drag slick route (i know they're not pure drag slicks). I'm gonna keep the ones I have, i know i can get the times down. I know it's all in the 60' times, i should be able to get a 2.3 or 2.2 but the car just pulls hard. I rev it to about 3200 rpm and slip the clutch. i have to slip it going into 2nd and 3rd or the tires break loose quite a bit. that's why i didn't get into the 14's too much, i wasn't concentrating on slipping the clutch going into 2nd and 3rd.
yeah, it seems so. a 14.6 would be the bomb!! I've got a short shifter i've got to put in (doubt it'll do anything) and I'm planning on doing poly bushings soon. i need an alignment pretty bad too so after the bushings and an alignment we'll see what i can do. can't wait to get back to the track!!!
