Track times
Well, I ran my car at the track tonight and I have to say I'm feeling like anything I've done to it in the past year was worthless. It was my first time at the track, ever, so that makes me a little optimistic about the future, but tonight, I didn't even break into the 15's.
My setup is as follows;
1992 Honda Civic Si
JDM B16A w/ LSD Tranny
AEM Short Ram w/ K&N Cone Filter
DC 4-1, 2.5" Hi-Flo Cat, 2.25" mandarel bent piping to a 2.25" ES Oval
Stock tires at 24psi
First run, ever;
r/t - .827
60' - 2.495
1/4 - 16.6
MPH - 83.01
Best run of the night for me;
r/t - .962
60' - 2.359
1/4 - 16.149
MPH - 85.33
I let my friend drive the car;
r/t - .526
60' - 2.643
1/4 - 16.111
MPH - 89.24
One run it popped out of first gear on the launch, and another I totally missed 2nd. It was fun, but I just wish I woulda done better. Any pointers? I know I should be in at LEAST the mid 15's with this car and setup.

you better start practing on your launching...your reactions times are not that great!!! dont wait for the green light to light up before you launch...i launch right when the 3rd yellow light comes on...my r/t times have been .4 n less. You could also try to mess with the tire pressure (15-19lbs worked for me) and lose some weight...Hope this helps!!!

I think once you really adjust to your car, you will meet your goal, atleast the breaking 15's. should be very poss as long as the B16 ur running is healthy. It takes some longer than others to learn you don't drive your car off of your tach or your shiftlite, (that goes for just about any N/A Honda, not every though) especially if you are looking for better track times. Learn your motor... where it hits the top of each "powerband", where it falls on it's face in the RPM range. I've been told I am a "good track driver" for what its worth and this is what I do on any car I drive or have driven. As far as the R/T's, don't sweat this too much. Yeah it matters, but don't expect to be getting better than perfect times at the tree.. like the guy before me said... " .400 R/T". I've never seen anyone pull those on purpose. I sleep at the tree with .700-1.000, it doesnt hurt me that bad, just work on the 60 ft. Slicks will do the job, ****, even cheater slicks work fine. Good Luck.

It takes awhile to get used to....
I ran 15.71 @ 87 in my car (92 Si hatch...)
I launch at about 2,500 and my 60' times were around 2.2ish.....play around with your car. It'll get better

Is VTEC hooked up? Any check engine codes? Clogged cat? Something is wrong if your in the 80 mph's and 16's with a B16. Don't worry about your 60ft or even your RT. You 60ft is fine for street tires and no matter how many times it's said unless your bracket racing your RT doesn't mean anything.

Dont worry man. I jsut got back from the track and my best time was a 16.7 in my coupe with a b18b.
Make sure your not throwing any codes (check engine light) i just fixed two major problems and i should run alot better.
What are you launching at?
Youll get better. Im goin back on tuesday, im planning on breaking 15's , if not , arrugh back to the garage and ****** with it.

Yeah, I'm wondering how healthy is your motor. I mean, your sohc should have been putting down numbers in that area if not better. Nail down a better 60' foot time, and do a compression test.

Re: Track times (EG(6)SR)
VTEC runs strong. Besides a noisy *** bearing, nothing sounds wrong. I threw codes after the swap, got them all cleared. The exhaust system is one week old. You think something is serioulsy wrong with the motor Matt? I was real optimistic on the drive to the track, hoping to at least get low 15's and maybe break into the 14's with my friend driving... My friend is a good driver, nailed a 14.9 in his 6th Gen Si with some bolt ons and traction bars.
I guess I'll take a trip to the shop this week and have stuff checked out. Besides a comp test, anyone know any other good places to start?

Re: Track times (fOmaNPu)
Don't waste your money on having a shop check out your car... it was your first time ever running... your times are going to suck. My roomate ran a 16.3 in a '92 Integra GSR, Skunk 2 Stage 1 Cams, Type R Valvetrain, I/H/E, and some other miscellaneous go fast goodies... his car is definately quicker then a 16.3... and to prove it he just got back from the track last week and ran a 14.7 @ 95 (or something like that)
So this is my advice to you... wait to go to a test and tune event at your local track and practice your launches, and shift points.... you will be amazed at how must you can shave off your times once you are accustomed to your car's behaviors. Good Luck and I can't wait for you to come back sayin you are in the low 15's/high 14's because that's what you should be in, and will be in with practice...

Re: Track times (SlippylesKB)
Thanks, I appreciate it. It was just hit or miss launching with me this time. I feathered it a few times, dropped it from 3.5 and from 5.5 when I let the pressure down. My second run was half a second faster than my first, so I definitely have to develop some consistency in my driving.

Re: Track times (fOmaNPu)
b16 eg hatch should be running at least mid to low 15's and could easily hit 14's with your mods. dropping it from 3500 and 5500 is way to high for street tires. try more along the lines of 2500-3000. dont worry bout the RT.. it doesnt mean ****. just try to get your 60ft times down. if u grab a nice launch you should hit 2.2-2.3 no prob. what rpm are you shifting at? 16's and mid 80's mph is just to slow...
dont worry to much man, practice makes perfect and im sure with time you ET's will drop. good luck

This being your third run that your friend ran is a REALLY bad 60' time but if you look at the MPH on the run an 89.24 is good for about a 15.6 in the 1/4

Re: Track times (CIVICVTI2)
On your friends run was he power shifting, becuase his mph is higher then your. if not i would suggest that. with my friends 00 si he was pulling 16.2's constantly. then he let me drive and i had a shitty 60 ft but i hit a 15.7 becuase i was power shifting. just get used to you luanch and i know how you feel it is way different trying to hook up at the track then on the street so just keep practicing you should pull mid 15's with you setup

Re: Track times (drvfast)
Don't worry Chris, first time at the track. No one does good at gateway the first time. Hell, remember the Type R hatch running 15.1? My suggestions would be practice and lots of it. After my B18 swap I'm not gonna do **** but practice my driving. No sense in getting more power if I don't know how to handle what I have now. U'll be hitting mid15's by the middle of the summer. Just keep practicing(or let me drive it)

Why does everyone care about reaction time? Unless you're racing against someone it doesn't matter at all in your 1/4 mile time. So what, he didn't hit the tree perfect? Big deal. Not like he would have went any faster if he did.

I second that 60's and mph are what effects you et.
