TPS problem!
Hi there this is my first post. Glad to have a forum like this for Honda lovers.
Anyway this is my problem: I just installed a blox TPS onto my b18c with Skunk2 intake manifold. The throttle body is stock GSR. I had to install a new TPS because the old one literally cracked in two, and would sometimes give erratic idle. I'd jiggle it around and that would sometimes work but I thought its time to change it.
I took the throttle off and using a chisel, broke the old sensor off. I then installed the Blox sensor, making sure that the little stick was lined up with the throttle body. I put it back on not knowing that it required calibration and of course, I could smell the rich condition and the engine light came on.
I tried to do what I saw on this forum and measure the volts coming from the middle wire of the sensor. Having the ignition in position 2 I used a paperclip and jammed it into the rear of the plug, then put a voltmeter to it with the black cable going to ground. Oddly i saw 0 volts. I then read a thread where the person took the throttle off and measured Ohms. I took the throttle off and measured ohms at the 1 and 3 prongs; they read about 5.5ohm. Checking prongs 1 and 2 and got 1.14. I then moved around the TPS till i got a reading of 1.01. I reinstalled with a hope in my heart and still...CEL on and high idle...
What gives?????????????????

Re: TPS problem!
ok i cant really understand u may just be me and tired but this is how u check voltage on a TPS
1. start car HAS TO BE AT IDLE to do properly
2. find the 5V wire (middle iirc) put (+) lead from multi meter on it
3. ground other lead
4. adjust TPS to .5V at idle I got # from a honda tech's book
5. then it is a sweeping readout 2.5 a 1/2 throttle
6. 5V at WOT
tighten down screws
now u may need a tad more or less V at idle depending on ur current setup
