Default TPS or IACV

I got a 97 Civic EX with CAI and exhaust. When A/C is on the idle fluctuates from 750-1200 or so rpms. It goes back and forth. I have already checked the coolant, not low. A/C freon is not low. Does anyone have any tips on how to tell what part is bad? Thanks in advance

check iacv. take the 2 bolts off and spray the metal net with either carb cleaner or brake cleaner

The IACV is on top of the throttle body correct? If I am not mistaken it has a couple of wires plugged into it right above the butterfly?

its behind the intake manifold. the one on top of the throttle is the map sensor.

Well I took the IACV off and cleaned out the little wire screen with some carb cleaner, had a lot of carbon like buildup on it. The carb cleaner only took off some and the problem is still there. Any other tips or am I just screwed and gonna have to shell out like 4 bills for the parts.

did you spray it thoroughly? my first time i did it with carb cleaner and it didnt clean it too good. i drove it around that day and the problem came back. i took it off again and sprayed it with brake cleaner (i just kept spraying it without letting go of the botton on the top). then i sprayed the part where the iacv goes into the intake manifold. the problem went away and no problem so far

yeah let it soak in it and spray it good, might wanna give it just a quick blast of wd-40 in there before you put it back on to make it slippry again.. The cleaner can dry it out bad and make it stick from being to dry..

Ok, Ill go buy some brake cleaner and try them both and see how it works. I may be able to replace it under warranty but I dont wanna take it in unless I know for sure it is messed up. Dont have a bill to just give to them if the problem will not be covered.

Does yours only do it with the A/C on? I have this same problem after swap and when I first start the car its between 1500-1200 but then once it starts getting warmed it does the bouncing between 700-1200.

I have only noticed it with the A/C on.
I took the IACV off today and cleaned the **** outta the little screen with carb cleaner. The little screen looks brand new. When started it still did the fluctuating idle but once warm it stopped. I dont know if this had anything to do with me moving the idle adjust screw to reset the idle. (My dumbass neighbor messed with it) I will post more info after driving tomorrow.

I did this yesterday. I used throttle body cleaner, but it did not work well. So, I used simple green (I read on a post here), it worked great. Afterwards, I blew it out with compressed air. I did not use WD40, I thought about it but was unsure what it would do.

I started the car and drove it around. The car died for awhile, but afterwards, now it run better than it did before. In fact, it resolved my bad idle and engine shaking erratically.

Dont mess with TPS, I doubt that is your problem. You may want to research FITV...my car did not have one though. GL
