Towing Automatic
Im picking up a 2000 ex automatic tomorrow with a blown motor. Im towing it with a two wheel dolley, but the person im buying it off of says he cant get it out of park. I dont deal with automatics ever but can you shift it into neutral with the car off? You just need to hold the brake with the key in the on position right? Without putting it into neutral i dont know hows else to get it onto the dolley.

there should be a slot near the gear selector and when you push the key in you can put the car into nuetral, d, r, etc etc.....

Right where the gear shifter is there a keyslot that unlock the gearbox. It may be covered with a piece of plastic but if you pop that off and push a flat head screwdriver down there until you feel something you should be able to get it to switch gears.
As you said though you can turn the key twice and press the brake while switching gears.

Yup, I had to do this on my mom's 4runner.
Just take out the center console, there's a little plastic piece up against the shift lever that keeps it from moving without signal from the brake depression sensor. Pry the lil piece of plastic away with a flathead screwdriver while pulling down on the shift lever and you should be able to get it out of park.
OR
Get the trusty floor jack out - jack the front of the car up, and lower it onto the dollie itself as it's already connected to whatever you're towing it with. The wheels don't need to spin and it shouldn't be at such an incline where the exhaust will drag (unless it's really lowered), but you could just pull the B pipe if it's that much of an issue, unless it's slammed the bumper should be pretty clear unless ur dollie is madd high.
