Default Totally new and need some help

Alright guys, I've red a lot of the forums, but I really need some help.

I've ALREADY bought a B20B engine, I am going to perform a SWAP into a 99 Honda Civic EX.

First I was told that I didn't need a transmission, that D series would work fine (Stock engine..d16y8 engine and d series tranny) BUT then yeah..I'm a idiot.

So what I need from you guys is..

What transmission do I need for the car? (5 speed please)

What all parts will I probably need for making this swap..(like i know the sensors are messed up)

and if you guys want to just post links that'd be great, I need as much info as possible as this will be my first time.

Please don't flame me for the engine that I got. I already did full research, and on my budget this engine worked best, and I can build it up and swap heads when needed.

First and foremost, you'll need a tbracket from a 99-00 civic si to mount the motor in the car. As for mounts, the stock mounts will work assuming the b20 has a 2 bolt post on the timing belt side. If not, I would suggest ordering an aftermarket mount or buying a 99-00 si post and mount. You will also need b series torque mount brackets (front lower bracket on trans and by the ac on the motor).

For a transmission, any hydraulic b series transmission with will work. If the motor is automatic, you'll need a flywheel and clutch. Exedy/fidanza combinations can be had for cheap on Ebay. You'll need a 94-01 integra, 93-97 del sol vtec, or 92-95 civic b series halfshaft and axles.

Assuming you already have the stock engine harness for the car, we'll skip the ecu. Try finding a 96-98 p75 ls ecu.

You're looking for a B series 5 speed tranny. Stock system it was originally in is your preference. If it was OEM with a B series, it's the tranny for you.

sigh....

It's not rocket science you can figure it out.... You will need a B series tranny... yes they are more expensive then d series but a jdm b20 is a great engine, you will love it.... It kills d series!

I know, I meant that when I keep calling parts places they ask me for my engine and they say 1.6L and they don't know if it's the right tranny for the 94-95 civic range. that's what i was wondering was the engine size.

i say this because 1.6l is SOHC to me..so idk if it's right. sorry for confusion

Why are you saying 1.6? You have a B20B, not a B16 or D16!

B20 as in B series engine with a 2.0 liter cylinder size. You're asking for the wrong trannys dude!

EDIT: Let me clarify. A B16 tranny would be fine, but if they're assuming you have a 1.6l engine, they're probably assuming you have a D16, unless you're specifically saying B series, if you are, I don't understand your problem very well. If you're worried about finding the right year tranny, most Honda tranaxles and Engines rarely change over the years. You don't have to be smack dab on the year. The only thing that could change would be sensor issues, but that might even be a very small problem.

^ It's a giant parts warehouse and they dont know what they're talking about.

For instance just now, I call them asking for a accura integra transmission, he doesn't type it in, just says NO and hangs up. BUT I call back with 94 civic, he goes yes how many, I say is it DOHC? he goes yea yea guy how many $195 come you buy your you no buy, tell me this.

*sigh* he didnt even look it up on the computer and yesterday the other guy didn't know if it was the tranny for the SOHC or DOHC. that's why I was asking you guys :D

I would suggest a different warehouse then lol. Or look on the marketplace here or on craigslist. Both are good places to look for parts. Just be careful that someone isn't trying to sell you junk.

I could definitely see that being an issue lol. Call them up and look for a transmission for a 93-97 del sol vtec, 94-01 integra (rs/gs/ls/gsr/type r) and 99-00 civic si's. Ask for each individual year lol it's all the same but they probably categorize it by year (they might have a 2001 integra ls trans, but not a 1998 ls trans, even though they're the same. Or they might have a 2001 integra gs trans but not a 2001 ls trans even thought they're the same).

It's not hard to tell the difference between a b series and a d series trans. Utilize google images...

yeah it's all the same as long it's for a hydraulic b series transmission. but for future reference, order for an integra so that there's no possibility for a mix up w/ single cam pieces
