Total realistic number of miles on EX
In your expert opinion...what is a realistic number of miles to get on a 1.6L EX motor?
I realize that what maintenance that was done over the life of the motor is key, but I am at 226,000 miles and am need of doing some work...shocks, bushing, wheel bearing, timing belt, etc. I also am fighting a hesitation issue around 2500rpms (another post asking for help here).
My thinking is that should I look into selling this EX and finding something newer with less miles on it?? I am thinking I might need to do some of the same work, but the motor will have less miles?
If I can expect another 75K miles on this motor it would be worth the money and time to just do the work needed on this car....
Which way would you go...newer car with less miles or do the work on this one with 226K miles on the motor?

There's no such thing. The closest you're going to get is taking the IIHS's average mileage per year (15k), and multiply it by the age of the motor, but even that would just be a median, not taking into account replacements and rebuilds. That also gives you a range of 210k to 270k.

I have two Civics over 300k with no signs of wearing out. They get great mileage, clean emissions, and after chasing down oil leaks, they leave my driveway mostly clean.
