Torque- b20 vs. h23
I searched on this but really couldn't find anything,
The h23 motor has 156lb/ft of torque, while the b20 motor has 133. I was just wondering why the h23 isn't as popular a swap as the b20 is for EG civic/del sols. I never really see/hear/read about this engine too much, and I found a pretty good deal on a h23 so I was just curious as to what you all had to say about it.
I am pretty sure that the mount kit used to mount an h22 is the same as it would be to mount an h23. Theres got to be a good reason why this swap hasn't been done as much.

Re: Torque- b20 vs. h23 (elevatethis)
i think the reason people swap B20's more is because its a lot easier to swap and relatively inexpensive. H23 doesn't have VTEC, and has less hp than the H22 with about the same torque, so if you're going to go through the trouble of swapping in an H-series motor into a civic you might as well get the better engine.

Re: Torque- b20 vs. h23 (elevatethis)
I think its a pretty good question actually. If you get a b20 swap its not necessarily bolt in, plug and play simple. You still have to scrounge for all the integra parts, like tranny, mounts, linkage, electronics.
the h23 has install downsides for sure, and inferior handling potential to the b20, but it would have the best n/a, bolt in, low end torque in the business.
all that said, it would be a nightmare to launch in a hatch. Probably the equivalent swap to a vr6 into a mk2 golf or a rabbit hahaha. great for roll-on highway power.

Re: Torque- b20 vs. h23 (daver)
Yeah I can see all of these reasons, pretty obvious now that I think about it. I do know that boosted h23s can make some great numbers, a turbo could be had for the price difference between the h23 and a new h22, so I just figured I'd ask.
