top speed questions....
I searched for about 6 different combinations of things but i couldn't find this, if anyone finds it i'd love to know.
I have a JDM B16 with a YS1 in a EG Hatch. My top speed is 125-130. I was just wondering a few things. I'm pretty sure i read that if i switched my tranny to the itr i could get more speed. What i was wondering was, what are the top speeds people are getting around here and what setups of any kind do u have. It's not like i'd want to or need to go that fast, im just curious you know.

b16 gears is the same as ITR gearing in the usdm versions.

also, another thing i was wondering....just because lol would a turbo'd h2b run circles around a turbo'd k20 ? if it's gonna start a fight don't worry about it, just questions im interested in</TD></TR></TABLE>
Apples and oranges man. It's all bench racing. A d-series on 15 lbs with stock internals could whoop both. Depends on the car, driver, altitude, tune, engine specifics, turbo size.
There's no One set answer for anything involving a race comparison between any two motors.

i have an S21, excuse me lol, umm if i put a GSR tranny in, would that add a higher top speed. Or is that another one where it wouldn't make much difference, Sorry if these are dumb questions.

dollar for dollar no................ a k20 will have a higher top speed. why worry about it?
i hatethese questions.............. basically you don't know enough about either setup to decide which one is best.........for you.
and you pretty much ar going to start an argument, and you do know this.
go with the H2b........it's "better"

O , im not like i said im just bored lol. Im not going with h2b or k20 , let's stop discussing that. Don't want to start an argument.
I was just wondering what transmission is the best , for lets say 1/4 mile on a b16 built. What transmission would probablly be the best. While i wait for responses im gonna go search more lol.
TIA

And How many your b16's horsepower??? If your too lower. That can't go top speed. You need high power about 180 hp. it's will fast top speed and use tune ecu or cluteh is better ..bucause it hold power to ground. mine is mastercluteh ....my power is 185 hp and 160 tq ....

All the Honda transmissions are geard to top out at 186 mph or 200 km and hour. The problem would be getting the car to actually go that fast. If you are topping out at 125 - 130 its because you have a govenor or single cam or possibly both.

Not to mention that once past 100mph going much faster takes a LOT power. Each mile per hour more on the top end requires exponentially more power each mile per hour gained.
Like i said before, how fast are you wanting to go on economy car size tires?

Agreed when do you really even need to go past 100 anyway. You might go faster than than that in the quarter, but even then you should be at the track.

im not going to go that fast, just wondering for knowledge purpose, i like to find things out , i just learned that over 100 mph each mph is exponentially greater which i kinda figured but now i know thats not just me speculating, it's true.

i have a JDM P30 and a JDM B16 ... so not SOHC and i don't think they have governors.... my friend said the fuel map might stop around there and said i need to get it tuned

im not sure how much hp im actually pushing, it's suppose dot have 170 and i have a few bolt ons and i have exhaust so maybe a little more but then it also needs to be rebuilt so prolly less. I have a stage 2 exedy clutch, but like i said i need to get it tuned.
but like i said i was just interested i don't EVER plan on going over 100 on public roads, i just wanted to know for my knowledge
thanks everyone

You probally have 130 whp maybe. The govenor is just the ECU cutting the fuel so you probally do have one. unless you have changed things in the ECU

Even without a governor or fuel cut, physics provide a natural barrier.
Over 120 there's pretty much a brick wall with the combination of lack of power, aerodynamics, tires overheating, etc.
