Took the Sol to the drag...
It's been a while since I've been to the track with my car. The first time I took it (stock), it ran a 17.2 which is decent for an automatic D16z. Then after putting an aftermarket intake it ran something like an 18.3 which sucks ***. Anyways I've done some modification to it since then like turning the intake into a cold air intake, adding an after market cam, and an aem cam gear. With the timming set at 5deg. advanced, for better off the line performance, the car ran a 17.069 @ 81.3 mph. It's nothing to brag about but it's better than an 18. Do you guys think my car is not performing well? The car will soon be a 5speed thank god. What should the potential be with a 5 speed considering that I'm a good driver? Anyway just thought I might share my little story.

Depending how good you are, 15's are easily achived with bolt-ons on a D16Z6.

15's in an overweight pig like the delsol is stretching it. Especially with just bolt ons on a D16.

My 95 EX (stock D16) barely makes it into the 15's. I'm not saying it's impossible ,but to go from 17's to 15's with just a tranny swap on a D16 powered Sol?

After a tranny swap he becomes no different than any other D16 EX, all of which can do 15's with bolt-ons and good driving.

And del Sols aren't as terribly overweight as people seem to think. An Si weighs only a hair over 2400 lbs. for a manual model. Granted, it's not a hatch, but it doesn't weigh more than a 6th Gen coupe.

15.77@84 mph in my del Sol Si with a homemade CAI, full body kit, and stock exhaust system. Remove the rear bumper for .3 seconds off your quarter time. 15's are very possible with a D16Z6 and a five speed.

without laughing gas or a vacum cleaner..its going to be tough to turn a Sol into a decent drag car..but they can be great road cars

your best bet is to sell the sol and get something else...i raced against a hatch 5th gen si with bolt ons and that thing rolled a 15.5....

Fellow Honda-Tech member BenenEK ran a 14.8 on really sticky street tires with a DX HB and 50-shot NOS. Ask him about it. I'm might be horribly wrong!
