Default Too much oil causes bogging...

Just wanted to vent somewhere on my stupid *** mistake.

I got my car back from doing a headgasket replacement and the first thing I thought was to change the oil and wash the car. So I change the oil and I don't know what I was thinking and put too much oil in it. After I changed it, it ran fine for a couple of days until the 3rd day where it started to bog and backfire like crazy. It wouldn't even want to start up. So I automatically thought it was the tech's problem. He told me to get a new fuel filter and cap and rotor.

I didn't think anything was wrong with the cap but I changed the rotor. I also got the new fuel filter and even did the timing which was dead on. I was thinking today, "hrm, what if it were something stupid like oil level" and sure enough it was!!!

Sometimes the biggest problems are caused by the smallest things.

I may be wrong but that doesnt sound like enough to cause a problem.

thats impossible, it must be a coincidence. a half quart too much will do nothing. alot more oil will cause your oil to foam and the pump will pickup air and kill your motor.

Sounds like a botched headgasket job to me.

1/2 quart over will not do that. skip the cap and rotor and take it back to the shop
