looks sick, but the fitment looks a little tight. anyone know what happens to cf when it heats up? will it melt or crack like plastic lips, or is cf resistant to heat?

I think it's really resistant to heat. I don't have any facts ir proof....but for some reason, I think I';ve read/heard that it was really resistant

CF will die under heat. i dont know exactly how itll die... but cf and heat dont mix. thats why cf hoods are fiberglass on the inside. and that lip is probobly 99% fiberglass... with 1 layer of CF for looks... like nearly all CF products for sale.... CF is expencive... 40$ a yard... to make more layers would cost too much money and noone would buy it

Re: told ya they made a rear del sol lip ! (lazynok)
where do u get ur information? back of a lucky charms box?
ur telling me fiberglass is much more durable in heat than CF would be? if thats they case then why would anyone use CF? CF is used in intakes, brakes, bodypanels, engine covers, etc.. different types of carbon of course. people use fiberglass on the inside of hoods is to cut down on costs. the right way to do it is use kevlar where the use of metal (hinge, or latch) is involved. that way no carbon and metal is touching, or it would eventually corrode the metal.
basically anything will get messed up in enough heat, but do u really think that THIS particular carbon piece will? compare the rubber of the bumper and the resin in the lip. if the muffler gets hot enough to melt or distort the lip, id be more worried abuot the bumper melting. and if its that hot by the time it gets to the muffler, think of how hot the header is.
another thing, usually people lay up one layer of CF on the outside, and use a chopper gun on the inside to reinforce it. the better quality stuff will be hand laid fiberglass cloth, NOT cf cloth.
btw: if u solers want a mugen style CF/FG wing let me know.
krazy

I always believed you lilblacksol
I like the lip quite a bit. However, I don't know if everything ImportFan advertises is actually available. Is this really for sale or are they trying to gauge interest? Sometimes ImportFan says they have a product when in reality, it's just a demo piece.
And carbon is used for IMs and valve covers and exhaust canisters...of course it can stand up to heat.
