Tokico Illuminas suck ***!
I have been riding on illuminas for less than 4 months with Tein S tech springs. The front driver side strut is now blown! All that I do is drive to work in the car, granted it may be aggrresive driveing at times, but damn 4 months.... anyways anyone who has been considering these struts, I WOULD NOT EVER BUY THEM AGAIN. I have thought from when I first bought them that I liked my old AGX's better.
Oh yeah to claim them under warranty you have to send the old strut and reciept to Tokico, with no gaurantee of getting a new one in less than 60 days.
I guess I could just ride with three struts

Re: Tokico Illuminas suck ***! (B_Something)
I have Illumina on all corners with Skunk2 coilovers and have no complaints. I am rocking a 3 inch drop, 400lb in the front and 500lb in the back spring rates for about 7 months now. no problem at all. I do turn them down to F1, R3 when driving normal.
Are the streets bumpy where you live and did you buy them new... also did you install them yourself or did you have someone install them for you???

Hows the ride with that setting? I had mine on 3's all around and it's a rough ride. (mated with GC coils)

I have had my illuminas and ground controls for 2 years now, and they havent blown. I am happy with my set up so far through some canyon driving and everyday normal driving.

I guess I got fucked or a bad set one! Do the full coilover set up such as a TEIN SS setup have many problems?

not really. I like it stiffer in the rear so that the front absorbs the bump then the rear keeps it from bouncing all the way down the road bump after bump. works pretty good actually. I have no complaints like I said earlier.
I think Tein SS are pretty good setup but for my hobbie all I need are some stiff spring rates in the rear so when I launch I get no squat what so ever. by the way I cut consistent 2.1 with this setup at the track.
94 CX
13inch VX rims
205/60/13 simutomo
Skunk2 coilovers for an Integra
Tokico Illuminas F3, R5
B18c1 with Short ram Intake
best time to date 14.1 with 2.1 60s at 96mph

yeah sounds like you just got a bad one. I do wish they had something better set up as far as replacement. they should get a card number send you out the old one with a return shipment label, if they determine that its not under waranty or that you voided the waranty they charge you. Thas how it should be.

I've had my illuminas for 4 years, no problems and lots of axle hop, very low for a while, and many track trips. You most likely got a defective one. If you have coilovers, you might be screwed. If you read Tokico's warranty, the say that if you use coilovers, the warranty is void.

Re: Tokico Illuminas suck ***! (JSPECHB)
i used to rock vis v spec 2 coilovers with eibach custom spring rates 1000lbs rear 400lbs front that setup rocked the street but made my stomach cramp up from the rough ride on city streets, and whenever i raced i would get no wheel hope what so ever, now i'm on teins ss the ride is perfect but it doesn't compare to my old setup, the ss give me mad wheel hope and now i catch myself braking into turns a lot more with ss then old setup. this has nothing to do with tokico illuminas but someone brought up tein ss

Yeah, same here... I have had mine for well over 4 years and love them to death. I went from extremely low, to a nice ride height over the years and they feel great.
peaces.

Re: Tokico Illuminas suck ***! (viprcr1)
Well I had my Blies for a few years now and there o.k. I was going to upgrade them to Illuminas but decided not to since I might be getting rid of my car. Maybe you talked to the wrong rep at Tokico because when I tried to do a warranty call on my blues to upgrade to illuminas they were going to send me the illuminas first so I didnt have any down time and just send back the blues after i replace them. They do ask for a card# up front to cover any charges if there under warranty specs. I think you cant go no lower then 1.5" and some how they'll know once taken apart. Shoots they dont even warranty there Full Coilover system because you can go lower than the 1.5" I get another set but illuminas or better yet Bilsteins(Ride nice as hell and work when they need to)

I belive civic's are 400f and 300r and Integra's are 500f and 400r.

Same, I put them on my brothers car with the same coilovers and they aren't bad. Pretty good for what they are. Take your chance and send them back.
