i know this is the civic/del sol section, but the TL section is dead, lol.. noone posts in there.

anyways, I JUST bought a 97 TL 2.5 automatic... i'm driving it, and it just shuts off. ran perfectly fine, all dash lights work, it turns over, but doesnt crank. it started for a second and just died...

My CRV started doing that, and it ended up being a bad distributor. As soon as I threw a new one in, the problem went away.

No idea if that's your problem though.

my accord did the same thing and if you let it sit for awhile it will start right back up?

Have the igniter unit/ICM in the distributor tested.

Some auto parts stores will test the ICM for you.

I fixed a friends car Accord today that had the same symptoms, tried the ignitor first because I had a few extras. Problem turned out to be the coil.

ya if it wont restart prob the coil then maybe test the starter

if the starter is bad, the car shouldnt be able to crank eithier?
