Help.. tires for 16inch 2000 Civic SI
Trying to decide on some tires for my 16inch rims, Suggestions please. I live in Colorado, I'd like excellent traction on dry and wet and at least decent traction in snow. Pretty sure I'll have to compramise with whatever I choose but here's a short list from tires.com, other suggestions welcome as well:
Falken ZE-502 Ziex (205/45R16) BW/Z $86.00
Goodyear Eagle HP Ultra Plus (205/45R16) BW/83W $103.00
Yokohama Parada Spec-2 (205/45R16) BW/83V $107.00
Bridgestone Potenza RE910 (205/45R16) BW/83T $121.99
Dunlop SP Sport FM901 (205/45R16) BW/83W $148.00
Dunlop SP Sport 9000 (205/45R16) BW/Z $150.00
Falken GR Beta FK-451 (215/40R16) BW/Z $102.00
Continental SportContact (215/40R16) BW/Z $147.00
BTW I may go to 17 inch rims next summer so comments on this as well

You should keep your stock wheels and put winter tires on them. Run those in the winter and run summer tires on your 16's. It's something to think about...

Buy a good summer tire for dry/wet traction. Then get a decent set of winter/all season tires for your stock wheels to run in the snow. You aren't going to find a tire that does all of them well.

I've got these now, and I'm not particularly happy with them. My engine is near stock, but I have a modified suspension. I don't have any trouble pushing these tires beyond their limit. They are ok in standing water, but it doesn't take much for them to brake loose on a wet asphalt exit ramp.
So if you just want a decent tire, then they are a good choice. If you plan to push your car or like the occassional "spirited" driving, then you will be disappointed. Also, I've driven these tires in some nasty snow and ice as well. They performed quite well.

Re: Help.. tires for 16inch 2000 Civic SI (jbbauer7)
i had the kumho tires on my stock si rims. they are crap. they were good at first, but they wore down really fast. i got 17s, and the first tires i got were the toyo proxies. i liked them they lasted me a year and a half, and they had great traction. now i have the ventus hankook tires. they are great in the rain. i just got them not too long ago, so i havent experienced too many different weather conditions, but they are great on wet and dry roads.

dumb *** me, I gave the origonals to a friend. I knew I'd regret it but wanted to help him out since he'd been building up his CRX project

yes I'll being doing some driving in snow (as little as possible but since I'm Colorado it's unavoidable). I just need to survive in the snow with a little traction not looking to be able to have confidence at high speeds or even light cornering.
I really wish I hadn't gotten rid of my origonals but I did to help out a friend, otherwise I'd put snow tires on them

Re: (jbbauer7)
here's an update on my situation.. evidently there seems to be no all-season tire for my 16's that fit a Civic SI (under 24inch rule) so I'm going with 17inch rims and an all-season, perhaps Bridgestone Protenza 950's? Anywise this really sucks because I wont be able to easily swap summer/winter and pretty much renders my 16inch rims useless. Anyone want a set of Enkei 16's for a good price. Some curb scrapes on the edge of two of them... I can take pics
Damnit here go's another grand!!!
