tire recomendation.....second time !
Well, i took some advice from a post i wrote here a couple weeks ago and bought some Yokohama Avids for my 2001 civic coupe. These things are horrible ! They not only are no quieter or smoother than the original Firestones, but they go crazy in freeway rain grooves. It's like driving in a high wind. I don't doubt they work fine for others, but on my car they just plain suck.
So i called the dealer and they told me Yokohama has a 30 day return policy and i can come in and exchange them. So i'm back here hoping someone can recomend something better before i go back saturday. Preferably a LOT better. I'd especially like to hear from those who have a 2001 civic and found a tire thats much smoother and quieter than the stock tire.
One more thing......as before, ALL i care about is QUIETNESS AND SMOOTHNESS. Basic average handling is fine. I'm not into racing or all that. This is just plain transportation for me. Oh, and well known mainstream name brands please.(Michilin, bridgestone, etc...because since i cannot go to various dealers, and the one i bought the tires from carries mostly well known common brands)
Thanks...

Dunlop A2 Sports if they have them in your size.
They are inexpensive and they ride awesome and they are quiet too.
I sell tires at my shop and these tires work great on cars like the Acura 3.5 RL, the TL, Legend, Accord, Civis, etc. where the owners are very picky because most are coming off of O.E Michelins.

I've been considering the Dunlops. The bridgestones tho.......well, the guy at the shop just told me to stay away from them due to a higher noise level than most tires in the class.
Still, i'm really curious about the Uniroyal tiger paws with nailguard. As i said in my original post, i had them on my last civic for a few days. Took them back because i thought they were defective because the car began pulling hard to one side. Exchanged em gfor michilins only to find the same problem which i later discovered was because they bent onne of my rims badly !
In any case, i mention that story because during the few days i had the Uniroyals they seemed uncommonly smooth and quiet. But this was a few years back and i wonder how accurate my memory is.
As for the Falkens, they don't have them at the store i'm exchanging my tires at.
I will research the dunlops more.....thanks

If you want quiet i would stay FAR FAR away from the Azenis Sports. Ive got them on my car, and even thought they grip great, they sound like truck tires!!!

Re: tire recomendation.....second time ! (FifthGearOnline.com)
could allways just return them
As for tirerack, been there. Kinda dissapointing because it seems that every tire no matter how expensive has plenty of negative reviews. I'm beginning to realize i'm wasting my time soliciting opinions because for every good one theres a bad. Plus, the yokohamas i bought which i hate so much got tons of good reviews at other online sources. Guess i'll just throw a dart and hope i get lucky. My latest possibility, which seemed to get more good reviews than any other tire, is the BF Goodrich T/A radial. May just go with that.

the falken azenis has serveral versions..ive got the ST 115 s..with an all weather directional tread..great traction and wear...ive seen those herring bone tread design tread d tires ..they re great in the wet and the dry but have the tendancy to travel on the grooves on the hiway and have shitty wear patterns
