Default Tire Questions??

Do most of you guys buy 2 sets of tires, like some ****-kcikers for the winter, and some falkens or so for the summer....or do you go with some nice performance orientated all year tires...

i was reading about some falken performance tires that are supposedly great performance tires that handle really well in teh rain and snow. and i wanted to know what other people were doing.

i guess this pertains to most dudes who live in areas where they get bad winters.

I went with some Toyo Proxe T1-S's. . .for one I live in So. Cal (there really isn't much of a winter), for two, they supposedly are very good in both wet and dry conditions.

On a side note. . .don't try and put aggressive tires on an engine that only puts out 50 whp

High Performance tire >< winter tire. Since I live in Florida I don't have to worry about this but If I was still up in Mass I'd get the best snow tire I could find and use them on some old steelies from Nov - April and then put my nice rims and performance rubber on during the summer months.

Why not? Well, gee... My CRX HF only has 50 HP, but it'll pull over 1G in the turns, so yeah, I think I'm gonna stick with some 155/80- 13 Sears tires because I only have 50 HP. Dumbass.

As for the original question... if you drive in snow, you NEED SNOW TIRES!!! Plain and simple. An all season tire is a compromise in all aspects- it's gonna kinda be OK in the dry because it has deep grooves, siping, and a high void percentage... it's going to be OK in the rain because the tread design has to be used in the snow too, and it's going to really suck in the snow because you just can't please everyone.

Anyone who says all seasons are good in the snow has never driven snow tires. I run $43 snow tires that look like mudders and lemmie tell ya- I've *NEVER* gotten stuck in the 7 years that I've had my license and have been driving in the winter. Also, just because it's a snow doesn't mean it's going to work. Tread depth is critical on snow tires and if it's half worn, I throw it out or super stud it and save it for ice racing. And then we have the dumbasses who just put snows on the front of their FF car. DUH! What do you think the back does all winter? Snows on the front and whatever else on the back is just ASKING to back into a tree at 60 MPH.

Rule:
Don't be a dumbass and skimp on tires. They're the only thing keeping you out of that ditch.

</rant>

I have 15x6" Oem wheels with DOT competition tires, 15x7" Kosei K1s with my competition street tires (Falken Azenis), 16x7.5" with Kumho 712s for daily driving, and trying to find a set of winter tires on stock wheels.

I got it all covered.
