Default tire mounting...do they have to be balanced?

i need new tires, but my roommate insists that they have to be balanced, so instead of just getting them mounted and slapping them on i have to have a shop do it so they can be balanced on a machine. is this true?

Its not that much to get the tires mounted and balanced. normally comes as a package deal. like $10 per tire cheapest and $20 for the most.

You dont HAVE to get them balanced.

I just wont be suprised when I see a thread "My steering wheel shakes, HELP!?!?!" in the next few days.

what will happen when you don't balance your tires, at the right speed your wheel will make your whole car shake. usually it's not as annoying driving in town as it is on the highways...

So you were going to mount them yourself? You have a tire machine? Or were you going to use another one of the backwoods moron tricks that so many of the worthless people on this forum use?

No. All balancing does is overinflate the tires. There's no need for it. While your at it, drive around with half the recommended tire pressure

Don't forget to rotate your valve caps.

you dont have to have a tire machine. there are tools made to specificly for doing so. Do you think there have always been tire machines? doing this on a car isnt **** try changeing tires on a semi on the side of the road by hand.

Yes you tires have to be balanced unless you want the feeling of your car vibrating apart when you go down the highway!!

Did you want a medal or something? Balancing is cheap and effective. The initial post was asinine anyways, and I doubt he even knows what you're talking about
