You say you know of ways to restore his paint. Why not tell him about that instead of being an ***?

Flat black car looks nice, I personally love dull looking colour cars.

Your fingers will be sore from holding down the aerosol can. You gonna do the entire car black? Is it black now or?

I am not sure if aircraft clear coat remover will work? I think people use it to remove paint on rims.

Black primer and wet sand in between each coat, should look nice. Take your time to do it

no car is the dark green color not sure of the real name. i've been thinking of doing it olive drab now. i know most people will think it looks ugly but i think it'll look nice. i also like dull looking paint. hence flat colors

Cars with fucked clear coats or non existent clear coats can still be made to look nice with 3m rubbing compound and some skill with a buffer.
If needed do a little wet sanding to smooth out the clear coat lines into the paint.
I know it works cause I have done it many times.

You'll end up spending $100 on the rattle can if you do it REMOTELY correctly.

Prep it nicely, sand it thoroughly. Paint it in as dust-free an environment as possible. Sand between coats. Use nice, long, even strokes.

That said, I wouldn't be so quick to destroy the paint on a 6 year old car, though.
