Timing question for Z6 crank pulley. Ive searched and cant find an answer
If anyone has an answer for this please let me know...ive searched through and through and cant find the direct answer im looking for.
Seems like most z6 crank pulleys have 4 marks...3 ignition marks for 14* 16* 18* and 1 sitting off by itself which is the mechanical timing mark. Well my crank pulley has 2(TWO) marks sitting off by themselves seperate from the 3 ignition marks. My question is does the pointer on the belt cover point to the left/right mark or in the middle of them? Any help will be appreciated.

I don't want to 'feel' where tdc is..I want it to be precise. Just looking for an answer to my specific question.

Just try what the man said, and see which mark it puts you closer to. Then if you so choose to use that mark then fine.
I haven't ever seen a pulley like you describe. Can you post a picture?

Yes del solo I've looked in that faq, the car in said faq has only one slash near tdc position on crank pulley, mine has 2. Like I said, I've searched everywhere. Even downloaded service manual and the answer isn't in there
Yes keithsda ill post a pic when I get home, and I really don't want to do the dipstick method, I just nee someone with the answer to my question to shed some light on the subject

Re: Timing question for Z6 crank pulley. Ive searched and cant find an answer
then you must have the wrong crank pulley. ive done numerous timing belt/waterpump jobs and no honda pre 92-95 has five marks on them. either you need a different pulley to set tdc, do what i posted pics of or do what the other guy said and put a dip stick in the #1 piston and see which 1 of the 2 lines on the crank pulley meets up with the arrow. easy
if you cant figure that out. take it to a shop

Ill just wait for someone to post that has an answer to my question. Its the original pulley that came on the motor. And its not that I can't "figure out" how to do what u said..itss that I do not want to.

Like I said before... I've personally never seen a pulley like that. (May not mean a whole lot)
So I guess you have rare crankshaft pulley. Now, if your main concern is setting the mechanical timing of your engine then pick one of the aforementioned methods and be done with it.
Good luck brother.
