Timing Question
How do you know if your timing belt is off a tooth or so. I am currentley having a problem with my engine whare it won't rev over 3000 rpms, someone suggested i check the timing, i played with the destributor and it does'nt seem to make any difference. If I was off a tooth would that stop it from reving over 3000 rpms? Is there any easy way , besides taking off the side covers and the valve cover to see if the timing belt was off?

is there any problem at idle? if it was off a tooth, your motor would run really sluggish.
wat motor? wat car? |
Re: (AL ASPIRATED)
It starts rough, sometimes kills, idels ok though. Doesn't have that great of pick up under 3000 rpms either.

Re: (Matrix_Zero)
Taking off the valve cover and the upper timing cover is the easiest way I can think of.
Last time I did a timing belt on a GSR, I had the same problem. Took it for a test drive and it pulled poorly, but it would rev over 3 grand. No CELs? |
