Timing Belt, Water pump, + Head gasket???
Hey guys got sorta a funky question but i guess thats why i joined.
Im going to be changing out the timing belt and water pump on my D16..
but it got my to thinking if im doing the timing belt and water pump should i do the head gasket as well... the engine has 202K on it. should i wait for the head gasket to acctualy fail or would it be better to just do it all at once?

Yes, Ringmaster was the second. The Amazing Jeckel Brothers was one of if not the best Jokers Card, although choosing a favorite Card is like asking you to choose you favorite song, you dont have just one. Each of your favorites songs has a special meaning as does each Card..
Anyway... anybody have a recomendation for either a composite or MLS Head Gasket? Who do you like? Also concerning the water pump, should i get an OEM unit or no?

Don't be cheap. Buy the OEM Honda pump, belt and gasket.
BTW, my 90 Civic Sedan has 285k, runs like a champ...and my 90 Accord has 294k...starting to die though. I hate F's.

yep...when it comes to motor parts OEM is the only way to go. Anything else will go out in months and leak. I had a buddy who changed his oil pan gasket with a cheap autozone one ($18) and it started to leak a day after. 2 days later he buys a oem gasket for $28 bolts that up and its been working fine for 2 months now.

If you resurface the head, keepo in mind you will need different head bolts to compensate for the difference in depth given the material shaven off the original head. Otherwise you run the risk of having bolts that do not torque the head properly and might have overheating issues, etc...

are you sure?... for some reason i dont think he is right... the head is only resurfaced fractions of a measurement

did he maybe not tighten the bold up enough or correctly? i know for a fact that its not the fault for not being an oem gasket
