Timing belt tensioner on a 1995 civic d14b7
Hi all,
I will be doing some work on a civic next week, and timing belt and tensioner is on the list.
I have the service manual and it says anywhere it mentions the tensioner NOT to remove it, just loosen it.
Is it a hard job to get it back on? I was assuming it would be just a matter of using a pliers to pull the spring onto the new one and then bolt it on...but is there more to it?
Any help would be appreciated.
Ken

No its very simple to do as u said u set the spring up using pliers and tighten it down when ur done setting the belt. in the manual it probably says not to remove the bolt all the way so it falls out u just need to loosen in and sometimes people do not replace them if its not needed. you will have to take the crank pulley off which may be the hardest thing to do then taking the timing covers off to replace the water pump and timing belt... both should be replaced at the same time while its all opened up....

Thanks for the reply!
I have the water pump ordered too, going to do the whole lot. Any advice on how to get the crank pulley off? I don't have any special tools (other than an impact gun and a crowbar!) but I don't mind investing in them if needed.
Hopefully it wont be a nightmare to get off anyway, could do without fighting with it for an hour!

When I did mine I bought
worked great put it on and bounced on the end of a 3 foot breaker bar for about 5min before it came loose
Im sure u can get it off without it but depends on how much you want to fight it I guess
