Default Timing belt noise after replacement

i found this link by schlit, but it is already archived and i couldnt post to it to see what the problem was originally.

i replaced my timing belt, water pump, tensioner and tensioner spring. i did the correct procedure for tightening the timing belt, the procedure that was in our shop manual anyway, twice to double check myself, and then again a week later. but there is still extra play that i dont think is supposed to be there. then again, i am still fairly new to hondas, so i might have not done something, or there is something i just dont know about. but regardless, it still makes a slight slapping noise, more so when the motor is cold, but still there when it is warm, just not as violent.

its been on the motor for close to a month now, and no signs of wear. and its on a stock b16a2. TIA.

Is the slack on the intake cam side? Also when you were tighting the tenisor did you push up on the tensior?

no, the slack is on the exhaust side. the intake side looks/feels like it should. and i didnt push up on the tensioner. didnt see it as being neccessary since it has a new spring on the tensioner, but i will try in the morning and see if it gets any better.

any other thoughts?

I had this one car one time that wouldnt tighten up the belt no matter what. What i had to do was when i put the belt on, tighten the tensioner then rotate 90degrees then tightened it again and didnt have a problem. Might want to try that, or like mentioned pushing up on the tensioner.

Its on the exhaust side, wierd. Well ur not supposed to have it on the exhaust side. You should be careful cause you dont want ur **** to jump time cause that equals bent valves man. I recommend you re-do the timing belt. Make sure the car is time out rite with the cam gears. Also try having someone push up on the tensor and another tighten it.
