Default Timing Belt?

I have a 96 Civic, approaching 180K

When do I need to change the timing belt again?

Second question.....I have a small exhaust leak near/at the manifold....when the car warms up it's gone. Is this something to worry about?

Thanks
Rick

Time wise how long does it take to change out a belt? It's pretty cold here in Michigan....

2 hours if you know what you're doing.

2 days if it's your first time

exhaust leak could make you run rich and give you crappy gas mileage

I'm pretty handy......I'm not as young as I used to be but....I can still turn a wrench....Last week I changed out an CV axle on the wife's van.

Should I plan on replacing the waterpump at the same time?

Thanks
Rick

ya, definitely do the waterpump too.

changing the timing belt can be a pain in the neck, especially the first time, and it is a little scary because messing up can be very costly. just be sure to follow the steps PERFECTLY and then check and recheck all of your work.

and then check again

It wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the thensioner either. I usually do every other timing belt change. Nothing is worse than replacing the belt and a few months later the tensioner fails and you're back two steps. I've seen it happen enough.

Or he's using air tools and does it a bunch. A friend of mine said that Honda techs can do a head gasket in 15 minutes. Apparently some people can pull a motor in like half an hour.

yes i do it a bunch, but i only use an impact gun to remove the crank bolt.

i change my timing belt once a year due to the fact i don't want my investment going down the drain cause of a stupid timing belt
