Default Times are changing.....finally accepting it

So the time as come when I am finally accepting the fact the the B-series is getting out dated. I've loved these engines since I got into cars, as my brother owned a 96 gsr. I've had an ls teggy, that same gsr, and now a b16 hatch. But due to chance encounter i now own a k24a2. This is gonna be a long and expensive build but I'm planning on keeping pictures updated on here, and will begin tonight when i get the engine home and start taking it apart.

RIP B-series

Out dated huh? People still use rotary engines that are "out dated".

And until you can do a k series without having to get a harsh (see: rattle box!) mount kit, then it's never going to be like the B series (at least in regards to the 92+ Civic)

B's are awesome because you can step up without having to sacrifice OEM smoothness, a/c etc.

I assume you're talking to me since I have that mileage figure posted in my sig.

I have several cars - American, Japanese, and British. I'm sorry I don't advertise everything I own in my sig. I can assure you that more than one of them will distort your face.

Ya i never even considered going K because of the expense... but i got the tsx engine with 48k out of a running car from a dealership for 150 bucks. So all i need to do is throw some rings in it ( was drinking oil ) and possibly a little machining and it should be good.

I agree but the B series motor is still good I mean it lasted for almost 20 years already and people are still using it till today. But Im thinking of getting a k20a2 just to see what the hype is about

Id just like to see bolt ons do something.....obviously you can make power out of the b's, and even the d's if you out of your mind. But torque is what im looking for and obviously K is the way for the torque.

if you want torque get a v8 lol. If you look before you buy a k swap you can find them cheaper, i saw one the other day with papers and all. it was a full k20a2 and had EVERYTHING the guy said he had about 4500 into it and had to pay bills. he had pics, papers, vin #. He was asking like 2500. I still get the gratification of beating b-series and soon to be k-series and h-series with my POS d16

B series engines are only out-dated in terms of their age and relative status to the newer Honda engines. As far as the technology in the B series engine, it's still on par or ahead of most new engine designs. Honda head design and factory engine strength still far exceed most other engine manufacturers so when you say its "out dated", i hope you're thinking in relative terms with your new K.

Let us know how that K feels just driving around town as a DD too since the K was not designed to fit in your engine bay like the B was. The Integras and Civics were designed with the D and B power plants. You will have little nuances with that K of yours.

Ya....lately ive been thinking more about buying an ep3 for the motor...considering i will only need to buy a few extra parts and i can have power windows again haha

and just to clarify im not saying the B series suck....i own one and love it. it's just not good for the type of driving I would like it to be...ie autocross where ive found after running against all sorts of cars i could really use some bottom end torque.

Oh you can get k series for less than 150 bucks? haha Im pretty sure if that was the case everyone would have em. they go for 2 gs + for a stocker and if u wanna buy some1 elses build and hope they did it right thats on you...as for me ill take the engine for 150 and rebuild it in a honda cert. class and be sure it comes out right....oh and im only looking to slay all at autocross, not on the highway

I am sure a K-series motor is all nice and dandy. Remember, not everyone can afford to slap one into there Honda because those motors are still expensive to buy and put in. People do have families to provide for and bills to pay. For me, I'm going to stick with a B-series until I win the damn Powerball Lottery.

amen brother.

anyways pish forget a K (over priced but if you got a deal rock out man)... the G23 is a way better option any day of the week. F23 Block, H22 Head. h2b kit and your rocking (fraction of the cost of a k20 swap). plus k20 pistons drop in, bump up the compression
