Is it time to switch to an RSX instead?
My EK Civic with a B16A is starting to rack up the miles. Plus it is ten years old.
Is it time to switch to something newer like an RSX (don't like the crazy instruments on the new Si) or *gasp* an Evo 8/9 instead?

Whats wrong with your EK? RSX's are very nice, but EK's are nice too, who says you have to get a new car every ten years? But like the guy above me said it's your money, it's your decision.

hole in the hood? you mean "ricer" cowl that tricks people into betting you gas money and then end up having to pay you LOLZ
J swap sounds good, but honestly, if i had the money, Id rock the RSX, it looks good, has kickass aftermarket support, and if the block ever fails (unlikely with proper care) he can swap in a K24 and keep the head, for an extra oomph under the throttle lol

The reason I asked is because you guys have to be encountering the same problems. How are you guys dealing with the increasing mileage and aging cars?
Engine swaps? Or have you been switching to newer cars?

well, my car was still going hella strong at 192k miles before it drank up dsome water and **** outta the side of the block. the motor going in has an unknown amount of miels and Im not the slightest bit worried. its a honda motor, and it turns super easy by hand

I just got my EK and im at 89k miles, I plan on doing a swap in like a year, so I still have a loooong tim to spend with my 13 year old car. Also it's better than most of my friends new cars, more fun to drive, looks nicer etc.

Im not feeling the interior.
I dont know what it is, but the new civics and acura's just look cheap and very plastic to me, the outside and inside. Amazing engines though! But I would personally rather stick that engine in an older car.

WOW you dont like type-s interior?! i think it looks great, very clean look. my buddies type-s interior is blacked out, but i still think the interior is pretty nice actually for a stock look

Guess it depends on if you care what other people think. I see no reason personally to switch from a nice older fwd setup to a newer fwd setup. now the evo is more like it. If you do change cars, at least upgrade. If you go from old fwd to new fwd....all you did was add some new paint and new car smell...and make yourself look good to "others"

I would ask yourself what you want out of your car... The RSX is going to be newer and nicer, so less maintenance and worries... That being said nothing quite feels like driving an older civic to me...
How far do you drive to work everyday? How many long trips do you take? Is a status symbol a big deal to you?
Just think of all of the situations you encounter daily while driving... Now would you rather encounter them in an RSX or your EK?

^^^^couldnt agree more!
I wouldnt listen to any of us,its all up to you!
lots of people like there wishbone suspension and non-ps while I love the suspension and steering feel of the ep3/rsx its more like a heavy, quality luxury car which not only makes me feel safe but is less tiring on the freeway on long trips.
I also extremely dissagree with the dude at the top,the ek interior is nothing close to the rsx not even close! and for the motor, would you want a car that looks old, drives with vibrations(motor mounts needed for swap) is loud, has no quality or a car that has all the opposite of that but is probably slower or expensive and harder to insure? ask yourself not us!
for me personally both my heart and mind say RSX-S

If your car is costing more $$ in repairs than a new one would, get a new one. If not, keep it.

Re: Is it time to switch to an RSX instead?
I was going to say dont do it but its up to you. The only thing that really attracts me to the RSX-S is the motor and it looks great. But you can get much better power for that much money out of the civic. It is nice to have something newer though. Safety, comfort, etc. For me its better to avoid having a payment for as long as possible so Ill be keeping my civic until I can afford an S2000 most likely.

**** the RSX is nice and it does look good but for about the same amount of money youd spend to upgrade you could make your EK look just as good. IMO I like the EK better , they are lighter are they not? and to me the RSX looks like a Cobalt to me I just preffer the old ones its really up to you. but I would make your Ek how you want it , go paint it your fav color. and redo the interior if your worried about looks , if it aint reliable Rebuild it and turbo it , that would be way more fun than an RSX.
