Time for new motor
 

i plan on putting a new motor in an i'm looking aT A D15B SOHC Vtec. i want something that i can have fun in but decent on gas and not tooo fast. is this a good choice?

If gas millage and fun are in the same sentence then you want the d15b v-tec motor. I have a fully rebuilt d15b clone (d15b block with a z6 head) in my vx hatch. I am really happy with the amount of power it puts out. My car is so light it seems like the motor has more power then it really does. It was tuned with crome using a wideband o2 sensor. I get 30 mpg in town at least. With a single v-tec you won't be left behind on the acceleration lane to the highway. You can actually pass people on the highway too. I recommend getting an ex/si/d15b tranny to go with it. I'm using an ex tranny and seeing 30 mpg. Plus you can upgrade the d15b just the same as the d16z6. D15b you can rev higher safely because of the better rod to crank stroke ratio.

i'm getting the d15 trans which comes with the complete motor that im ordering online.

I really suggest you tear that d15b down and do a mild rebuild at the very least. New rings , bearings, all new seals, water pump, timing belt and tensioner would be what i would recommend. Also get the head checked out for any valve leaks. Do it right the first time so you don't have problems ahead. I've seen too many of my friend drop motors they got from online just to have them run a few months then spin a bearing and have to take the motor back out and rebuild.

yeah i have a mini me in my car, and it gets about 34 miles to the gallon, and 30 if i drive in a lot of stop and go... and it has a little 'oomph' to it... i mean its no GSR but its not bad
