Re: time for a block
So... you have another block with... nothing in it? something in it? And, it's of unknown condition?
And, you have a blown block of which you've told us nothing except show us that you've thrown a rod.
How should we know? If you've got money invested into the bottom end with forged parts (it doesn't look like it), pull the parts and take them in to be inspected. Do the same for the other block (if it even has anything in it and isn't just a bare block).
We're not mind readers.

Re: time for a block
Ryd2TheMax, your post is way more unnecessary than anything we've posted yet. Also, you're signature is ripping on someone's grammar and, in doing so, uses the wrong form of "its." What you mean to say is "it's" instead of "its." Flaming is prohibited.
OP, are you asking us if your B16 head will fit on the B18C1 block? When you say you're buying a "longblock" are you sure you're using the term "longblock" correctly? Longblock implies it's coming with a head as well. You can use your B16 head with the B18C1 block. Or, you can keep the B18C1 (P72) head. Either will work.

Re: time for a block
So, you have nothing to drive right now?
The block that you are planning on buying "in a few months" will be fine. The only reason to "go a different route" is if you find another B-Series engine in the meantime that's cheaper. No offense but if you can't afford to buy the engine RIGHT NOW then you shouldn't be worrying about getting something that would be fast.
Wait, I just thought of something... is you blown block and B16 head a LS/VTEC setup? The B18C1 would be fine if you've currently got a VTEC setup but, I think, if you don't buy the B18C1 and instead buy a non-vtech block, you'll need to do something to it. Marc, can you help me out with this? Hopefully you know what I'm trying to say. I've never done an LS/V and I know there's something to do with oil ports.

Re: time for a block
Honestly, I still don't know what you have, what you're getting, and when you're getting it.
I don't have any experience with hybrid engines (Frankensteins). But,a B16 head WILL fit on a B18C_ block and some people prefer this combination. Review the appropriate forums for more information. If you're buying a block (no head, no trans, but WITH the rotating assembly), you'll be fine. You'll likely not NEED to purchase a complete engine later on.
